registered mourning cover used to Manchester franked with 4d and 1d red-brown bisected. Used in the eleventh mail (Sept 3) arriving in London on 9th October. Cork cancel on franking with Sept 4th CDS and London registered mark on front, Manchester Oct 9 registered mark on reverse. Sadly the name and street name have been crudely redacted by heavy rubbing. Cover grubby but a scarce item, Barton K1, SG.11a cat. £4500. (see photo)
