HOW TO BID
Room Bids
Join us on auction day to bid in person. If you are a new client, a short registration can be completed on the day. Bidding numbers will be issued prior to the commencement of the auction, if you arrive whilst the sale is in progress, please go to the office to collect yours.
Complimentary tea and coffee will be provided all day. Homemade pies and cakes are available to purchase from 12.30pm onwards from our onsite butcher and farmer.

HOW THE BIDDING WORKS
Commission bids have the same status as room bids and will be entered in order of receipt at our offices. When two or more equal bids are received, the earliest to reach us will be successful. The Auctioneer will bid on your behalf and will buy the lot for you at the best possible price, either at the reserve price if no other bids are received or at the next step up from the second highest bidder.
BIDDING STEPS
Lots estimated up to £20 in £1 steps, lots £20 up to £50 in £2 or £3 steps (for example £22, £25, £27, £30 etc.), lots £50 up to £100 in £5 steps, lots £100 up to £500 in £10 steps, lots £500 and over at the auctioneer's discretion.
Bids under 75% of estimate will not be entered.
BUYERS PREMIUM
Public auctions: Buyers premium of 24% (inclusive of VAT) is added to the hammer price.
PAYMENT
Settlement of invoices can be made by bank transfer, debit card, cash or cheque.
For trade buyers, business credit cards are accepted with a 3% surcharge. For overseas clients not using a UK or EU registered account we accept debit or credit cards and bank transfer, all of which incur a 3% surcharge.
BACS payments can be made to the following account. Please include your invoice number as reference.

New clients not supplying card details will be sent a pro-forma invoice.
All lots must be paid for in full within 10 days unless extended payment/ trade terms have been agreed in advance of bidding. Overdue accounts charge interest at 3% per month plus an administration fee.
AUCTION RESULTS
Realisations will be online Sunday evening following the auction. Alternatively, you may telephone us on 01823 681358 after 2.30pm on the Monday following the sale to enquire whether you have been successful.
DESPATCH OF LOTS
Lots are sent out to postal bidders the week following the auction. We use Royal Mail services for the lighter items (up to 2kg) and Parcelforce 24 for the larger parcels. In the UK the cost for sending a parcel weighing up to 20kg and value to £1000 is £16, up to £5000 value is £20. N.I, Highlands and Islands may incur a surcharge. Any client wishing to use their own courier will be charged a £5 packing fee per lot.
Overseas parcels depend on destination but also will be sent at cost.
GUARANTEE OF LOTS
We make every effort to describe lots accurately. However, if you receive an item you are not completely satisfied with please contact us and return it to us within seven days and a full refund will be made.
Please note this guarantee does not cover collections, accumulations or mixed lots which cannot be returned and must be taken with any faults. Also, lots which are shown on our image pages cannot be returned for perforation or centering faults.
Extensions for single stamps must be requested prior to bidding to obtain vendor agreement. Certificates gained without an agreed extension will not be guaranteed.
